Creative threads and campus talent: Upper Michigan Today spotlights NMU’s Art and Design program and a U.P. sewing shop during Shop Hop
MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - Bringing creativity to the screen and stitching together quits. Upper Michigan Today spotlighted both student talent and local craftsmanship.
This episode featured Northern Michigan University’s Arts and Design program with Assocaites Dean and Director of the school of Arts and Design Jane Milkie joining to talk about the history of the program and the upcoming N45 event. While Time Flies Quilt and Sew owner Pam Kauppila discusses her business for the All- Michigan Shop Hop.
But first, John Redfield and Tia Trudgeon added a twist to the show’s format with Redfield remaining in studio to introduce the student art, while Trudgeon reported live from the sewing shop.
Next, Assocaites Dean and Director of the school of Arts Jane Milkie joins the show to talk about the Arts and Design program at NMU.
The show then switches over to Time Flies Quilt and Sew with owner Pam Kauppila talks about the All-Michigan Shop Hop.
Back into the studio, Milkie talks about the different art designs made by students in the Arts and Design program.
Milkie then talks about the North of the 45th event.
Time Flies Quilt and Sew owner Pam Kauppila rejoins the show to talk about her participation in the All-Michigan Shop Hop and what she hopes can come out of this experience.
In the final segment, Trudgeon and Redfield recap the episode and highlight how people can show support.
